TZEDEK
Tzedek is the term for righteousness, the righteousness for which we should all be striving. “Judge righteously between a man and his fellow countryman, or the alien who is with him” (Deuteronomy 1:16). We read in Deuteronomy 16:20, “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue, that you may live and possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”

Here are some more verses, which help to explain the term tzedek:

“Righteousness will be the belt about his loins, and faithfulness the belt about
his waist” (Isaiah 11:5).


“He [the Lord] restores my soul; he guides me in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3).


“Thou hast loved righteousness and hated wickedness” (Psalm 45:8).


“Loving-kindness and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have
kissed each other” (Psalm 85:10).


“Open to me the gates of righteousness; I shall enter through them”
(Psalm 118:19) \


“Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness” and

“all Thy commandments are righteousness” (Psalm 119:142, 172).
